Sharrow Reports
In 2009, Ithaca saw a blip of bicycling infrastructure on its streets. A bike lane was striped up East State Street and “sharrows” were painted the whole length of Cayuga Street. The sharrows are a new sort of marking — they indicate the line that a bike should follow along the roadway, a line safely away from the “door zone.” As part of the project of deploying sharrows, the city undertook to study their use and impact, issuing a report every three months. The four quarterly reports are now available for review.
